This is a live training on Zoom. While it is optional, we prefer cameras on for the entire time, since it makes the group experience stronger. There are plenty of chances for discussion and questions with the facilitator and other participants.

Katherine McLaughlin, M.Ed., AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator
Katherine is the founder, CEO, and lead trainer of Elevatus Training, and has been an expert in sexuality and developmental disabilities for more than 30 years. She teaches sexuality education to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and trains them to be peer sexuality educators themselves.
She is the author of the agency and school curriculum Sexuality Education for People with Developmental Disabilities, and created two online courses: Developmental Disabilities and Sexuality 101 for professionals and Talking to Your Kids for parents.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. You need a copy of Sexuality Education for People with Developmental Disabilities for the training, and it is included in your tuition. If you or your agency already owns one, bring it and pay $945 instead. Choose the ticket that matches whether you need the curriculum. Your curriculum and other training materials will ship by USPS or UPS about 10 days before the training.
This is an assessment-based training. If you attend the full three days and pass an online assessment at the end, you receive a certificate of completion. Otherwise, you receive a certificate of attendance. You must be present for all but two hours of the live training to be eligible for a certificate of completion.
A certificate training is not the same as becoming a certified sexuality educator. Only AASECT certifies sexuality educators. You can still teach sexuality education classes with this certificate.
Yes. This program is approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval #886798975-6290) for 17 continuing education contact hours through November 30, 2026. To receive NASW credit, you must attend the full training and may not miss more than 10 minutes.
Sexuality educators can earn 8.75 education credits toward becoming AASECT Certified Sexuality Educators (CSEs). If you are affiliated with another credentialing body, you are welcome to submit your certificate directly.
Trainings run 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Mountain Time on Wednesday and Thursday, and 9:00 am to 3:30 pm Mountain Time on Friday. That is 11:00 am to 6:30 pm and 11:00 am to 5:30 pm Eastern. Please check your local time zone.
A stable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone. We strongly recommend that each person join from their own computer so breakout groups work well. The Zoom link and instructions are emailed one week before the training, so please check your spam or junk folder too.
We offer refunds up to 30 days before the training. Please send your request in writing, by email is fine, with the registrant’s name and payment amount. We cannot offer refunds after that date or for no shows.
Yes. You can transfer to another training up to 35 days before the start date. Please send your request in writing; by email is fine.

Yes. You will be responsible for any taxes, duties, and brokerage fees due when your shipment arrives, and we cannot estimate those for you.
