Why this course
You do not need to have all the answers
Most of us did not grow up in homes where sexuality was talked about openly. So when our own child asks a question or does something that surprises us, it is easy to freeze or change the subject.
Children with intellectual and developmental disabilities often get the message that sexuality is not for them. You can send a different message. This course shows you how to:
Sexuality education is sexual abuse prevention
Children and adults who know the names of their body parts, know that their bodies belong to them, and know who they can tell are safer. When you talk openly at home, your child learns that they can bring these things to you.
What this course covers

Katherine McLaughlin, M.Ed., AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator, is the Founder, CEO, and Lead Trainer for Elevatus Training. She has been a sexuality educator and trainer for over 30 years.
As a national expert on sexuality and intellectual and developmental disabilities, she trains professionals and parents, as well as people with I/DD, to become sexual self-advocates and peer sexuality educators.
